You must go for M.Tech then to have more in-depth understanding of the subjects associated with Mechanical Engineering. If you have done your B.Tech from any of the IITs, you can apply for direct admission to any IIT in M.Tech programmes. For rest of the B.Tech students, they have to appear in GATE and then they have to apply for M.Tech admissions on the basis of their GATE score at IITs, NITs, IIITs and other government funded institutes.

You can apply for short term courses/certification courses in mechanical stream so that you gain more knowledge and skills later helpful for your professionally and personally.

Courses can be done are:

Engineering: Mechanics, Materials, Design
Mathematical methods and fluids
Smart Structures

It also matters if you want to take up a sub category or topic in mechanical engineering you learnt and get specialized in it and accordingly do a course in it.
