I am from political science streams , I want to prepare myself for jnu entrance exam for pg level at political science, but I can't find out the whole syallbus at detailed for entrance exam, every where is just briefly syallbus , so if you tell me the syllabus and some books so for my perparation .
For a detailed overview of the syllabus, it is suggested to refer to the official e-curriculum released by JNU on its website. The rest of the books which I'm going to suggest are for your JNUEE preparation for Masters in Political Science. The important point to keep in mind is that the exam pattern has been changed this year. Earlier it used to be in subjective format but now it would be conducted in objective pattern. Following are the books that might help you in your preparation:-
1. An introduction to Political Theory by O.P. Gauba- It is a must read book, for the people with a pol. sci. background as well as non- pol. sci. background, as it clears the basic conceptual questions asked in the exam. It covers most of the questions asked from the political theory section.
2. Global Politics by Andrew Heywood:- It is the must read book to cover the International Relations section as it covers all the concepts and theories for the terms like Indian Foreign Policies and Globalization. it contains all the facts and the analysis of the entire section.
3. Public Administration by M. Laxmikanth:- It is the most important book to refer to for the Bureaucracy and Public Administration section of the examination. You can cover most of the questions asked in the public administration section from this book.
4. Indian Polity by M. Laxmikanth:- this books covers all the questions asked from the polity section. If you had gone through previous year question papers, you must have observed that 10-15 questions always come from this section. Although, it is an important book, but from the entrance point of view, I would suggest that the last mentioned book would be sufficient to cover all the questions. But still it can be referred for more in depth conceptual knowledge.
5. Political Science by N.D. Arora:- this is the most important book for your preparation. It contains the entire analysis and the questions asked in the examination.
Most importantly scroll through the previous years papers and check out the popular topics and read them properly. Since this is the first time that the paper is going to be MCQ type it is expected to be easy. So focus on basics, try not to miss on them.
Hope it helps. Good luck:)
