I am getting 71 marks in GATE set 2 mechanical stream..Any chances in PSUs ??
Although the official cut-off marks for GATE2018 will be declared by IIT in mid-March 2018, according to previous year cut-offs and toughness of paper this year following are the predictions for the cut-off:
Mechanical Engineering Branch:
- General - 30 to 32
- OBC - 27 to 29
- SC/ST/PWD - 18 to 20
According to this, you will easily get qualified. Although it is tough to get admission in good IIT, I think you can get admission in other IIT's except top 6-7.

As you know the previous year cut off for mechanical engineering branch is approx 32.87 for general.
So if you comes under general category make sure it will be approximately in between 30-35.
So,yes there might be chances that you will get PSUs and also you will get top IITs because 71 in gate fir mechanical is a good score.
So according to my view you can get both of PSUs and also top IIT colleges.
Choice will be upto you as whichever suits you can go for that.
