Hy,

Well its good you are preparing for cat 2018.

Let me tell you that If it is section 1 (QA and DI), you can start with learning the theory and practising sums from books like Arun Sharma, Pearson books or from free sources.

If it is section-2 (VA, RC and LR), you should start with Wren & Martin (for grammar), Word Power Made Easy (to improve vocabulary), read lots of articles/magazines (preferably online) on a variety of topics like science, philosophy, psychology, economics (even if you don't like it you should since most CAT passages will certainly come from these topics and you should not be uncomfortable reading them) and solve questions from Arun Sharma (LR).

The most important tips alwaysfocused upon your accuracy and speed. If you are in the exam hall and you have these two quality you will save your time for the VA section where you need more and more time for reading. How can you make this area strong. By hard work and revising your basics give you the best result in this section.

I wish you all the best for cat 2018.

Cheers !!

To start preparations for CAT 2018 you need to first focus on mastering the basics of each section.

For quantitative ability, you can start preparing through Arun Sharma book which has a good explanation of the theory and question solutions. Also, it provides a high variety of questions with the different difficulty level.

For Verbal ability, you should start reading lots of good novels written by good authors like Charles Dickens, Agatha Christie, Sydney Sheldon etc. This will help you in improving your English Literature. For improving your vocabulary you should start memorizing 3 words daily with their meaning and correct pronunciation. You should start using these words in your daily life so that you can memorize them in a better way. For Reading Comprehension section you should start reading different passages in different newspaper, magazines etc. and understand the thought process of the author. You need to see what actually he wants to convey through his passage, to who is he targeting and his way of communication. This will help you in solving the maximum questions asked below the passage. You should also see the Arun Sharma book to check out and practice the different types of questions asked in the exam.

Along with this, you should start giving lots of online mock test and analyse solutions of each one of the thoroughly which will help you in overcoming your mistakes and come up with a strategy to definitely improve your marks and percentile. It will also help you to know about your strength and weakness which will help you in attempting easy questions first, that will reduce your chance of committing a silly mistake in an easy question or missing out an easy question. Along with this, you will also get enough time to attempt medium level difficult questions which will overall increase your speed with accuracy which leads to increase your percentile. Testfunda, Oluveboard, hitbullseye, cracku.in, youth4work.com, bschool.careers360.com are some of the sites where you can get online mock test papers for all CAT,

SNAP and XAT exam

All the best for your preparations!!

Practice is the key to success in CAT. Manage your time well and judicially among the three sections. The one that you particularly find little challenging, devote slightly more amount of time to it.

Above all, apart from solving the questions from your book, try to give sectional tests online in stipulated amount of time. The more mock tests you give, the better your frequency sets in sitting for long hours over the system giving exam. Do not jot forget to analyse any mock test that you give because more than making mistakes, it's important to correct them.

You can join a good coaching centre around you, like TIME, IMS, CL, etc.  that will guide you in different subject. If not, then at least join online test giving series in order to get your national percentiles to some degree.

All the best!!

First and foremost prepare a timeline or a plan of how you want to go about it. Find out the syllabus for quant and then get a good book like Sarvesh Verma or Arun Sharma. Make sure you complete all the exercises in the books. Once you are done with that the best way to prepare is to give as many mock tests as you can. You will get to know your weaknesses and also know how to manage your time well.

Moreover the more mock tests you give the more familiar you will be with typical questions and it will help you increase your speed. Give online tests which are given by a large number of people so that you get a good idea of where you stand.

You also need to analyse each of your mock tests so that you get to know and derive observations from the tests. See which areas you are facing a difficulty in and concentrate more on those areas. Register on sites like Testfunda or Oliveboard for such tests. Also, you can install apps like business insider or economic times so you stay up to date with current affairs. It will also help you develop a reading habit which will help you in the verbal ability section. Make a reading list as well so that you can increase the speed at which you read which will help you in reading comprehension. All the best!
