i am having myopia , is it a disability ?
Hello,
Myopia is not a disability. Also called nearsightedness, myopia is a common refractive error of the eye that causes distant objects to appear blurry.
Generally, a disability is defined as a condition that prevents a person from accomplishing one or more activities of daily living.
- These conditions that may qualify for disability benefits due to vision loss include glaucoma, retinopathy, and traumatic injury, among others.
- For disability purposes, what matters is what your vision is while wearing glasses. ... If the vision in your better eye is worse than 20/200 with glasses, you are considered disabled.
- If one eye has 20/800 vision and the other eye has 20/100 vision, for example, you would not automatically qualify for disability benefits.
Hope this helps!!
