Hi Alok,

Read NCERT as many times as you can with understanding it. Clear your doubts regularly with faculties. Practise MCQs as much as you can. If you are in 11th std now, then focus on 11th std syllabus only.

If you are aiming for AIIMS, paste a poster of AIIMS institute at study table, that will keep reminding you of your aim and boost your morale.

All the best.

Hi,

Since you have one year left, you can gradually prepare for NEET and AIIMS without any hurry.

First read all the NCERT books and cover all the important chapters.

Next go to a coaching centre or prepare in home if you can do well.

Next, go through previous questions and give mocks to assess yourself. And based on that prepare more.

Dear Alok,

The very first step is to see the pattern of the examination.

NEET is an objective based examination with 180 questions - 90 from biology, 45 from physics and chemistry each with 4 marks for right answers and -1 following a wrong answer.

The ‘non-academic’ part:

  • Simply go through few previous year papers.
  • Be VERY serious about your goals. Both short and long term.
  • Talk to someone who has given the exam and ask their personal experience.
  • Be motivated always!
  • Ask a well wisher to make sure you don't deviate from your motivation. There are times when you'll suddenly feel down and lazy along the journey.

The 'academic' part:

  • Join a coaching centre if you want to.
  • You should do countinuous study. Doing NCERT should be your prime motive. One should be evident with each and every line of NCERT. Most of the students ignore NCERT in 11 which is one the gravest mistake.
  • Never hesitate to get your doubts cleared. This may sound like a very cliched piece of advice. Trust me! It comes from someone who's been there and who hasn't done that.
  • Solve lots of MCQs. Use 40% of your time for theory and the remaining 60% for MCQs. Take lots of mock tests.
  • Once you're done with some good amount of MCQs you'll know the different types of questions that you can expect from any chapter. The revision of these “types of questions” actually help before the examination.
  • You have ample time. Take sufficient amount of breaks and don't overdo the studying.
  • Finally, learn to enjoy the whole process. The three hours inside the examination centre especially. Enjoy every minute of it. Tell yourself that you're not gonna experience this thrill once more in the near future and enjoy giving the examination. This actually helps.

Hello Alok.

Dear it's very good that you have decided your plans. But you need to work on them too in order to succeed.

Here's what you should do:-

1. Biology

Study NCERT thoroughly each and every topic. Cover all the text. Study all the diagrams and charts. Make notes by your self. Don't copy from somewhere else.

Revise what you study so that you build concepts and not just cram things .

After you complete NCERTs, you may solve PYQs.

Solve 'Master the NCERT' by Arihant. It's the best book in business.

2. Chemistry

Again NCERTs are the foundation but sometimes it is not easy to build concepts from mere NCERTs. You should therefore refer to some other books like OP Tandon. For quick and basic knowledge, watch 'Examfear' lectures or 'Gabbar Singh tutorial' on YouTube.

Solve Allen mock tests after the completion of text.

3. Physics

NCERTs here are bit difficult to understand. Therefore I advise you to study from 'SL Sharma' for basic and deep knowledge. For studying from competitive point of view, 'HC Verma' is the best.

You can watch 'Pradeep Kshetrapal' lectures on YouTube.

However do solve NCERT questions. They are extremely knowledgeable and will help you to assess your concepts as they are not basic questions but require a more conceptual approach to solve.

4. General knowledge

(Only for AIIMS)

Don't waste time in studying useless things unless you are fond of them. 20 questions are asked in AIIMS exam and those too are based on current affairs. Just studying a monthly GK magazine at examination month will suffice.

5. Miscellaneous

Study according to a timetable. Your timetable must include leisure time to refresh your mind.

Always listen to advice of your teachers. They know more than us.

Remember! Study smart not hard.

All the best.

Hie Alok,

It's very impressive you've already set your goal. Great Job! That's the first step! Secondly, you need a ton of dedication and Hard work for these next two years. Remember, you want to be a doctor so you will do whatever it takes to get you there.

Now, for the important part, plan your study. You are in 11 std.

  • Concentrate on strengthening your foundation. Listen to lectures, understand what is being taught, make your own notes.
  • Every single thing is important for NEET. You might want to research a little bit before you start off. Open your text and see your portion. 2 months before you answer your finals for 11th, you should have completed your portion.
  • For Entrance exams you need to focus on NCERT textbooks as of now. However, in 2020, when you will be Answering, rules may have changed but that should not bother you for now.
  • Refer to selected resources. Don't use too many guides. It will confuse you. Stick to one book and start solving objective questions daily.(You will have to buy objective books) For starters, you can do 20 questions a day and then slowly increase. You need to get used to the pattern for NEET.
  • Also, concentrate on your acaedemics i.e. term Examinations. Don't let your preparations carry you away. You cannot afford to fail any of the years as it forms a part of your eligibility criteria.
  • College exams and Entrance Examinations are completely different. Recognize that.
Once you have discovered what works for you, like your study pattern, and the hours of study you can put in, follow that schedule. You can refer to videos for additional aid but your textbooks are your real guides.

I hope you find this helpful. If you have any queries, please feel free to ask.

All the very best!
