Fall months September, October, November, December. Summer Months May, June, Jul, Aug. U.S Universities have two intakes for admission purposes, namely Fall and Spring semesters.

Generally, it is advisable to take the tests between Jun to Aug, although there are scores of people who take test Sep to Dec, to get enough time to prepare for the exams. Plenty of people take a second test during this time.

Generally admissions open and close between Sep and Dec for fall sessions, for the best of the universities. It is best to file in applications during this time. But there are universities that accept late applications (as late as May) for fall beginning Jul/Aug. But such late applications have its own pitfalls too.

The earlier you apply, the better your chances are to get admission with a decent scholarship.
