TATA Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) conduct the Post Graduate entrance exam TISSNET MBA for admission of candidates to the School of Management and Labour Studies. The TISSNET exam is administered for 53 Masters in Social Science programmes across the four campuses of TISS, namely, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Guwahati, and Tuljapur.
To Start your preparation for the exam, primarily, you must know the detailed information about the exam such as the exam pattern, marking scheme, syllabus of the exam.
Exam Pattern
The exam is conducted in the Computer Based mode and Objective type questions are asked in the exam.
Questions are asked from the following four sections-
General Awareness, English Proficiency, Maths & Logical Reasoning.
40 questions are asked form the General Awareness section, 30 questions from English Proficiency and 30 questions from Maths and Logical Reasoning section.
The test is of a total of 100 marks.
Marking Scheme There is no Negative marking for wrong answers and candidate gets one mark for every correct answer.
Syllabus
I am mentioning here some of the topics of TISS NET MBA syllabus
English Language Ability- Reading Comprehension, Vocabularies, Grammar, Antonyms, Analogies, Sentence Correction, etc.
Maths and Logical Reasoning- Percentage, Basic Geometry, Ratio, Family tree, Pie Chart, Line Graph, etc.
General Awareness - Current Affairs, Personalities, Geography, History, etc.
General Awareness section carries the maximum weightage and it contains questions from General Awareness and Current Affairs both. Also, syllabus is vast of this section. You will have to memorize things from about the Politics, History, Law, Sports, Geography, Current Happenings, International Politics, etc.

Preparation
After knowing the detailed syllabus you can make a preparation plan for yourself according to your daily routine. As you have mentioned that you are in the first year so you will have to focus on your studies, daily classes and manage time accordingly.
You can appear for the TISS NET MBA exam after completing your Bachelor’s degree or during your final year of Graduation.
So, you have ample time for preparation. You can start to prepare topic wise/ subject wise.
You should start with clearing your basics. Select any one topic and after completing it you can practice questions related to that topic.
You should also solve previous year question papers and mock tests. Mock Tests will help you a lot in the preparation. Mock Tests will help in increasing your speed as well as boost your preparation.
After attempting mock tests you should thoroughly analyze the solutions of the tests. You can analyze your mistakes and come up with a strategy to improve your mistakes and your marks. It is the best way to score well in the exam. It will also help you with time management. After completing your syllabus, you will get to know about your strengths and weaknesses and come up with a plan about how to attempt questions during the final exam like you can solve easy questions first and then attempt tricky questions or questions which require time. By giving mock tests, you will be able to make this strategy for the exam day and it will definitely help you. Speed and Accuracy both are the key factors to score good marks and perform better in the exam, you need to work to improve both.
Sincere and dedicated studies along with hard work is required to get good marks. Also, you must keep this thing in mind that just clearing the exam is not enough. After clearing the exam, candidates will be shortlisted to appear for PIT/PI round.

These stages of selection procedure carry different weightage. TISSNET MBA test is of 100m arks, PIT/GD comprises of 50 marks and Personal Interview of 75 marks.
You can prepare for GD/PI, later on, your first focus should be preparation of the written test.
Also, it is advised to focus on your BBA studies as well. Your Graduation marks are also considered. Good Luck!
