Hi Akahat,

It is nice to know that you want to pursue higher education abroad. Educational institutions abroad need academically strong students as well as someone who has healthy extracurricular interests.

For admission to undergraduate programs, you will be required to score well in SAT or ACT . But before that, you need to strengthen your academic profile. Score well in your 10th and 12th exams. The higher the score the more chances of getting a seat in the top colleges. Also, you should pursue a variety of extracurricular, display your interest in various subjects through projects and different exams. You should also have some interest in social work.

Shraya has mentioned all the other requirements for the admission to top universities.

Do revert if you need more information.

Best wishes,

Hello,

Since you are in class 10, you have plenty of time to prepare for admission. In order to get into any of the best colleges/universities in the United States, you will need the following:

  • Standardized test scores from SAT or ACT . These scores are generally the primary determinant for which university you will be eligible for.
  • English language proficiency test scores from either TOEFL iBT or IELTS Academic.
  • A statement of purpose and/or personal statement/other essay answers.
  • Letters of recommendation.
  • 12th standard transcripts/scorecard from a recognized state or central board.

In order to prepare, you should first select your preferred university and program of study. Accordingly, the admission requirements must be met for each university. Although SAT and TOEFL iBT will be required for most universities, some will not require these scores. Therefore, send the official score reports to the universities which require the scores for admission decision.

The top 10 universities in USA are:

  • Massachusetts Institute of Technology
  • Stanford University
  • Harvard University
  • California Institute of Technology
  • University of Chicago
  • Princeton University
  • Cornell University
  • Yale University
  • Johns Hopkins University
  • Columbia University

My answer will be more clear if you mention the name of the course specifically as there are many colleges which are best but in diffferent fields.
