Also to talk about the cutoffs if you score more than 140 or 150 you can join any nits with good branch. To have a better branch and also be in the top nits you have to score min of 230 marks in jee mains.

To get into nits you have to go for writing jee mains exam and the eligibility criteria for jee mains are as follows

• There is no age limit to be eligible for JEE Main 2019. However, candidates need to pass 10+2 or the equivalent examination in 2017 or 2018. Candidates appearing for 10+2 or equivalent exam in 2019 are also eligible to apply irrespective of their age.
• Candidates need to have secured a minimum 75% marks in class XII or equivalent exam or be in the top 20 percentile in their class XII exam conducted by the respective board.
• For SC/ ST candidates, the eligibility criteria is to secure 65% marks in class XII or equivalent exam.
