The GATE exam is only for students who have done engineering graduation and right now you are in class 12 so there is no option for GATE is of no for you.
there are many colleges which offer admission based on JEE exam through mens or through advance some of the college which offer admission through advance are IIT and IST so if you are interested in astronomy you can appear for joint entrance exam main the registration for that has also been already started.
