I am living abroad. How many years should I have studied in India in order to get me admission in the mbbs open quota?

It does not matter whether you are living abroad or not. If you are an Indian citizen and have resident status of India then you are good to go.
It's just that the curriculum of foreign countries have different qualifications like IB or AB levels which does not sometimea fall under the eligibility criteria.
