The eligibility criteria of all the M.Des. Admission 2018 participating institutes has been provided below.

M.Des Admission 2018 Eligibility Criteria for IIT Delhi

It is mandatory for candidates to be graduates in Engineering or Architecture only.

Candidates must have passed their qualifying degree with a minimum CGPA of 6.75 on a 10 point scale or 60% marks (55% for SC/ ST candidates).

Candidates need to have a valid CEED percentile of more than or equal to 75. GATE scores will not be accepted for this programme.

Candidates having a CEED 2018 score of +> 75 and a minimum CGPA of 8.5 on a 10 point scale or 75% mark (70% for SC/ST candidates) will be eligible for direct admissions.

M.Des Admission 2018 Eligibility Criteria for IIT Bombay

It is compulsory for candidates to have qualified in CEED 2018.Candidates need to have minimum 55% marks or equivalent grades (50% in case of SC/ST) in qualifying examination as following:

Industrial Design:

Bachelors degree in Engineering/ Architecture/ Design/ Interior Design or equivalent.

Professional Diploma in Design (NID/ CEPT or equivalent).

Mobility and Vehicle design:

Bachelors degree in Engineering/ Architecture/ Design/ Interior Design or equivalent.

Professional Diploma in Design (NID/CEPT or equivalent).

Bachelor's in Fine Arts (4 year professional programme in Fine art/ Commercial art after 10+2).

Visual Communication, Animation and Interaction Design:

Bachelors degree in Engineering/ Architecture/ Design/ Interior Design or equivalent.

Professional Diploma in Design (NID/ CEPT or equivalent).

Bachelor's in Fine Arts (4 year professional programme, after 10+2).

G.D. Art (5 year programme after 10th) with one year professional experience.

Masters degree in Arts / Science / Computer Applications.

M.Des Admission 2018 Eligibility Criteria for IIT Guwahati

Candidates need to have valid CEED Scores

Candidates must have obtained minimum 55% marks in their qualifying exam.

Qualifying exam would be a 4-year Bachelors degree or equivalent in Design, Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design or a Design related field.

Qualifying exam would be a 4-year Professional Diploma in Design of NID or Professional Diploma of CEPT (5-year programme)

Note:Candidates having B.Tech/ B.Des degrees from any IIT with a minimum CPI of 7.0 will be exempt from CEED.

M.Des Admission 2018 Eligibility Criteria for IIT Hyderabad

Candidates must have a valid CEED score.

Candidates must have passed any of the qualifying degrees (mentioned below) with minimum 55% (50% in case of SC/ ST):

Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Architecture / Design/ Interior Design or equivalent (4 years duration after 10+2).

Professional Diploma in Design (NID/CEPT or equivalent of 4 years duration after 10+2).

B.F.A. (4 year professional programme, after 10+2).

G.D. Art (5 year programme after 10th) with one year post qualification, professional experience Masters degree in Arts / Science / Computer Applications (2 year programme after 10+2+3).

M.Des Admission 2018 Eligibility Criteria for IIT Kanpur

Candidates must be Indian Residents.

Candidates must have passed B.Tech/ B.E. degree in any branches of Engineering.

Candidates who have passed B.Des and B.Arch

Candidates must have passed their qualifying degree with a minimum of 55% marks/ 5.5 (on a 10 point scale) and these marks should not be less than the minimum pass marks/ CPI in their graduate degree.

Candidates must have a valid GATE/ CEED score.

Candidates with a B.E./ B.Tech degree with 75% marks(for grades, candidates must convert to % according institute rules) from Centrally Funded Technical Institute are eligible for direct admission in PhD without GATE score.

M.Des Admission 2018 Eligibility Criteria for IISc Bangalore

Candidates must have passed a recognized Bachelors degree in Engineering (B.E/ B.Tech) / Design (B.Des) / Architecture (B.Arch).

Candidates must have a valid score in CEED 2015/ CEED 2016 or GATE.

B.Des candidates must have a valid score in CEED 2016 or CEED 2017.

Final year students are eligible to apply provided they submit proof of passing at the time of admissions.

M.Des Admission 2018 Eligibility Criteria for IIITDM Jabalpur

Candidates must have passed B.Tech/ B.E./ B.Arch./ B.Des./ BFA/ M.Sc./ M.A./ MCA with minimum of 60% or a CGPA of 6.0.

Candidates must have valid GATE or CEED scores.

M.Des Admission 2018 Selection Procedure for IIITDM Jabalpur

Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of valid GATE or CEED scores.

Shortlisted candidates will need to appear for a written test and a personal interview.

Candidates will be examined for their drawing skills and design aptitude in the test and interview.

Candidates will be required to bring their portfolio, any previous work and related certificates for the interview.

All applicants applying for the M.Des. programme (any discipline) must fulfill both the following criteria; of age and education qualification.



Age Limit:For Indian Nationals in General Category: Upper age limit for candidates is 30 years as on 30 June 2018. Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 1988 are eligible to apply for admission.For Indian Nationals in Reserved Category (OBC-NCL, SC & ST): Upper age limit for candidates is 33 years as on 30 June 2018. Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 1985 are eligible to apply for admission.For Indian Nationals in PwD Reserved Category: Upper age limit for candidates is 35 years as on 30 June 2018. Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 1983 are eligible to apply for admission.For Foreign Nationals in Overseas (Supernumerary) Category: Upper age limit for candidates is 30 years as on 30 June 2018. Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 1988 are eligible to apply for admission.Educational Qualification:In addition to the above, the candidate must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications to be considered eligible for admissions:



Bachelor degree of minimum 4-year duration in any specialization, after 10+2 system,from any university or institute recognised by law in India. Condition: Applicant must (have passed/have appeared for/be appearing for) the Bachelor degree examinations beforeJuly 2018.

Overseas Category (Supernumerary candidates):Foreign citizensapplicants holding citizenship of a country other than the Republic of Indiaare eligible to apply only under the overseas category, provided they fulfill all the eligibility criteria.



Of the seats available for the M.Des, 15% supernumerary seats have been created for overseas applicants. The actual number of seats available under Overseas (supernumerary) category are as follows: :

Admissions Handbook 2018-19.Overseas applicants may choose their exam center for DAT Prelims from any exam center mentioned in Section 7.3 of M.Des. Admissions Handbook 2018-19.The language of instruction at NID is English.Important Note:Candidates yet to appear for their qualifying exam (Full-time Diploma or Bachelors Degree in any discipline under 10+2+4 or more system) are eligible to apply, provided they produce proof of having acquired the minimum required qualification.

Here is the eligibility criteria that you need to qualify for Masters in Designing.



Masters Degree in Design needs a full time bachelors degree from a recognized University in any design discipline. Some of the eligible streams are like Fashion / Textiles / Accessories / Graphics / Communication). In addition, some other streams like B.A. (Fine Arts), B.Sc. (Textiles & Clothing), B.Tech (Textiles) or Design Diploma from NIFT / NID. There is an all India entrance exam named CEED carried out by IIT. After clearing the test, aspirants can attend the interview.
