I am not selected computer subject in 12 th standard , can i do btech through computer science engineering branch
Hi Rani Kumari,
It is absolutely alright if you do not have a computer background in your class 11th and 12th. I am myself doing a Computer engineering course, and there are many students in my class with no computer background in 12th. They start from basics in the first year so you do not have to worry about that.
But, the main subjects required to take Engineering/BTech course are, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. If you had these subjects as you main subjects, then you are definitely eligible to do CSE. Note that, you will have to answer entrance exams to get admission in engineering colleges.
- If you want admission in national level colleges like IIT and NIT then you have to answer JEE Mains paper 1.
- If you want admission within your state itself, you have to give CET exam.
- Colleges like BITS, VIT and Manipal Institute of Technology conduct their own entrance exams. If you top in boards in 12th, you do not have to answer any entrance for getting a seat in BITS.
Hello,
Yes you can do B.Tech in CSE even if you didn't have Computer Science as a subject in your 12th standard. There are many people from Biology background who have opted for CSE in B.Tech. But you should have done Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at your 12th class.
Well if you are still in school, then I suggest that you join some online classes or some coaching centre to learn the basics of programming so that when you join college it won't be too much for you once you join B.Tech.
I hope you found this useful.
Good luck
