Hello there, Central Government maintains a list of castes and communities which are given OBC status. It candidates community is mentioned in the above list then then next step is to check whether you belong to the creamy layer or non creamy layer.
The income limit for non creamy layer should be less than Rs 8 lakh. If you income is more than Rs 8 lakh ( in your case it is) you will not the advantages of reservation for OBC category.
I will also like to inform you that if your parents job is under central government entered the service as class 1 before the age of 40 then also you falls into a creamy layer. And if both parents of the candidates entered the service of class II officers before the age of 40 then also candidates fall into a creamy layer. And once you fall into a creamy layer category you will not be able to take the benefits of OBC reservation.
Good luck!!
Hello my dear
Your parents income more than 8 lakhs so you are under creamy layer so you have not any reservations like you are under general category.
At present those belonging to other backward classes ( OBCs ) are eligible for 27 per cent reservation in educational institutions and government jobs, barring those who come under the creamy layer category with an annual income of more than Rs 8 lakh.
Creamy layer -
A person with annual income of Rs 8 lakh or more is classified as belonging to the ' creamy layer ' among OBCs and cannot avail of reservations
