I am pcm student, but I wish to study arts for my graduate course. So which subject (in arts) should I opt if I want to appear for UPSC.
Yes you can pursue bachelor of arts (B.A) after completing 12 th in science background but you should have 50% in your 12 th marks.
For preparing for upsc it actually depends upon you like what is most interesting subject for you and you can opt for the same subject.

You can opt for BA in polity/economics/ geography/history/ public administration/ sociology, becoz these are scoring subjects in UPSC. Taking any subject from above will help in both prelims and mains. In Mains there is one optional paper consisting to two part of 500 marks. It will be beneficial for you.

Prelims stage - paper 1 (objective questions) - main subject that need to covered are polity, history, geography, current affairs, art and culture, environment and science, and economy.
Prelims paper 2 (objective questions) is CSAT which contains 10th level maths, comprehension, decision making question
Mains stage (subjective paper) that covers total 9 paper (optional subject has 2 paper - Paper I and II)
Final stage is interview
