As a physically handicapped (PwD) student aspiring to study Aerospace Engineering in India through JEE Mains, the rank you need depends on the specific institute and category (General-PwD, OBC-PwD, SC/ST-PwD) are:
For Admission to IITs through JEE Advanced:
General PwD: Aim for a JEE Advanced PwD rank under 400. Top IITs like IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, and IIT Kanpur offer aerospace programs.
OBC/SC/ST PwD: A slightly higher rank may suffice, but aim for under 600 to increase your chances.
For Admission to NITs through JEE Mains:
To secure a seat in Aerospace Engineering in NITs (e.g., NIT Trichy or NIT Surathkal):
General PwD: Aim for a JEE Main PwD rank under 1500.
OBC-PwD: Rank under 2000.
SC/ST-PwD: Rank under 3000.
Other Institutes Offering Aerospace Engineering:
IIIT Hyderabad
BITS Pilani (requires BITSAT)
Private Colleges (like SRM, Manipal) that have relaxed criteria for PwD candidates.
Dear aspirant !
Hope you are doing well !
At a much lower rank you can get admission there without any kind of difficulty . 7.5% Scheduled Caste (SC) 15% The remaining 40.5% of the seats are reserved for the General candidates. Apart from the above table, the Indian Government also keeps another 5% seats in reserve for the PwD category. This year the cutoff marks has been 109 marks for the Common rank list (CRL) out of 360 marks. For the GEN-EWS and OBC-NCL rank list the cutoff marks is 98; for SC/ST/Common-PwD/GEN-EWS-PwD/OBC-NCL-PwD/SC-PwD/ST-PwD is 54 marks and for Preparatory course rank lists it is 27 marks.
Thank you
The rank required to secure a seat in aerospace engineering varies based on factors like the institute, category, and quota. For top institutes like IITs (through JEE Advanced) or NITs (through JEE Main), the cutoffs for physically handicapped (PwD) candidates are relatively lower than the general category. Generally, a rank within the top 5,000 in JEE Advanced (PwD category) can help secure a seat in aerospace engineering at IITs, while for NITs through JEE Main, a rank within the top 10,000 (PwD category) may suffice.
