I am planning for cat 2019 but I find it hard to give time for cat preparation. Moreover I just can't come up with any strategy for exam?

Gurkirat 6 months are more than enough to prepare for CAT or any other exam for any candidate and to score above 99 percentile. conditions applied that you actually devote a proper time in the whole day to it and work on improving yourself rather than lying at your current position.

As it seems that you are looking for self-preparations then you need to start your preparations by focusing on mastering the basics of each section. After that only you will be able to overcome the concept of speed with accuracy which is essential to crack any MBA exam.

  • For quantitative ability & DI-LR section, you can start preparing through Arun Sharma book which has a good explanation of the theory and question solutions. Also, it provides a high variety of questions with the different difficulty level.
  • For Verbal ability section, you should start reading lots of good novels written by good authors like Charles Dickens, Agatha Christie, Sydney Sheldon etc. This will help you in improving your English Literature. For improving your vocabulary you should start memorizing 3 words daily with their meaning and correct pronunciation.
  • You should start using these words in your daily life so that you can memorize them in a better way. For the Reading Comprehension section, you should start reading different passages in the different newspaper, magazines etc. and understand the thought process of the author. You need to see what actually he wants to convey through his passage, to who is he targeting and his way of communication. This will help you in solving the maximum questions asked below the passage. You should also see the Arun Sharma book to check out and practice the different types of questions asked in the exam.
  • Along with this, you should start giving lots of online mock test and analyse solutions of each one of the thoroughly which will help you in overcoming your mistakes and come up with a strategy to definitely improve your marks and percentile. It will also help you to know about your strength and weakness which will help you in attempting easy questions first, that will reduce your chance of committing a silly mistake in an easy question or missing out an easy question. Along with this, you will also get enough time to attempt medium level difficult questions which will overall increase your speed with accuracy which leads to increase your percentile.
  • Testfunda, Oliveboard, hitbullseye, cracku.in, youth4work.com, bschool.careers360.com are some of the sites where you can get online videos and mock test papers for all CAT, SNAP, XAT and many more MBA exams.

hey fellow CAT aspirant,From a late starter to a late starter, I started just this month. I brushed up most of the important topics in quant and I'm dedicating around 10 days for DILR and remaining days of this month for verbal and little advanced quants. Next month till 23, I'll do around 2 mocks day( 3 if i can find time). This way i cover a lot of ground, have a basic idea of time management and accept whether or not I should  skip or spent time on a question. There are some good YouTube channels for MBA coaching, it's free so just watch few. It'll motivate you to study(my own experience). Try to find good question papers, not some random free question papers(I tried to use some free stupid material i found online and it wasted 1 week). Finally, I'd like to say that I'm positive that if you do this much atleast, you can score  marginal scores atleast if not very good scores(marginal is worst case scenario). If not, now you know how to study, how to tackle the exam, the methodology required(which all combines to say "how to crack CAT").I'm doing this experiment on myself, I don't have a mentor although i wish i had, and i dont have another spare year(and mainly due to lack of other options). I did my homework to find how to approach CAT and I'm using it now. If you find a better alternative, please adopt that. My very best wishes to you, Hope you do well!
