Hi priya,
First of all you need to check in which colleges are you eligible for applying. Biotech is a science stream and it is the basic requirement. Next comes your subjects. If you are a PCB student, you can’t pursue biotech from the most prestigious colleges i.e. IITs. IITs take admissions on the basis of JEE (Mains and then Advanced) and you need maths to appear for JEE. If you are a PCM student you can go into any college but the thing is that after 2 semesters biology will haunt you for real. But if you are a PCMB student, girl, you are about to get the best time of your life while in college. There is maths and some other engineering subjects in the first year and there is bio in the other three years.
Another thing which I forgot to tell you is that biotech is a course in which you can find two degrees - B.Sc. and B.Tech. IITs provide only B.tech.(4 years) while other government institutions like ICAR, CSIR etc. provide B.Sc.(3 years) or B.Sc. + M.Sc. integrated courses (4 years). Private institutions on the other hand provide both Btech and BSc. There are entrance exams for CSIR as well. Coming to private colleges, you can get admission in whichever you want just by filling the admission form. They surely call you for an entrance exam but it does not matter. The list of colleges(private) providing biotech in descending order of their quality is as follows-
Amity University, Noida
Manipal University, Karnataka
KIIT, Orissa.
There are certainly colleges that would provide you the course but fee demand and quality may vary .
Hope it helped.
