Dear Aspirant,
Each year, in February and August, the test is conducted to select Class-I Officers for Flying and Ground Duties (Technical and Non-Technical). Candidates can apply for the AFCAT whether they are male or female.
Through the AFCAT exam candidates are recruited in the Indian Air Force for the following branches-
- Flying Branch
- Ground Duty Technical Branch
- Ground Duty Non-Technical Branch
Educational Qualification for AFCAT
AFCAT Flying Branch |
The AFCAT flying branch eligibility has a minimum and maximum age requirement that applies to both male and female candidates.

- Maximum Age – 24 years
- Minimum Age- 20 years
- Maximum Age – 26 years
UPSC CDS examination is conducted by UPSC twice a year to recruit young officers in indian armed forces Army,Navy & Air force.
4: Officers’ Training Academy (SSC Men & Women)
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION FOR UPSC CDS
(i) For Army Wing of National Defence Academy :—12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
(ii) For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy :—12th Class pass with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

AFCAT
- A candidate must have passed 10+2 with Mathematics and Physics with minimum 60% marks in each subject from a recognized board.
- Candidate must have passes 3 year Bachelor's Degree in any discipline or 4 year B.E/B.Tech with minimum 60% aggregate marks from a recognized board.
- Age must be in between 20-24 years. For Commercial Pilot License holder 2 years age relaxation is applicable.
- Candidates who are in final year of the qualifying degree are also eligible to apply but their selection depends on the fulfillment of the education qualification requirement.
- Marital status should be unmarried
- You can apply for Flying branch and ground duty non-technical posts.
CDS
- A candidate must have passed bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized board
- Age must be in between 19-25 years.
- Candidates who are in final year of the qualifying degree are also eligible to apply but their selection depends on the fulfillment of the education qualification requirement.
- Female candidates are are eligible to opt Officer's Training Academy only.
- Marital status should be unmarried
- Candidates who are in final year of the qualifying degree are also eligible to apply but their selection depends on the fulfillment of the education qualification requirement.
