Becoming a pilot is pretty costly. The cost is around 60 lakhs plus or even more. The other way is to apply for AFCAT to go to the airforce. For a commercial pilot - here is the process in a nutshell. Check some of the flying schools in India and their websites. Check if they are legitimate through the DGCA website and then apply for the entrance exams. Some like IGRUA, NFTI, Chimes and Bombay flying club are preferred. I dont know if they are very good. Just that many students go there. Apply for a DGCA class 2 medical certificate by checking their site for the doctors list and getting one from there. Brush your 10+2 knowledge (science). There will be a pilot aptitude test. This is to see your hand-eye coordination and multitasking skills. Also read about planes and their history so that you are not ignorant. Then you have to study for the course followed by practicals and I think training so that you have 250 flight hours. Then you should get a commercial pilot license and apply to any one of the low cost carriers like Indigo, Spice Jet for type rating as it is called. They have a cadet pilot programme that comes with a job at the end in most cases. This programme is to be paid by you and there are no scholarships. I don't know how many joined as pilots last year as this is not mentioned anywhere. As for Class 12 percentage at least 60% is preferred. I think in Gujarat - Ahmedabad Aviation & Aeronautics Ltd. does this.
