Hello there,
If you are applying for JEE Mains under the General category because you don’t have your OBC certificate, it is correct to apply under General. Without a valid OBC-NCL certificate at the time of application or counseling, you cannot claim OBC reservation benefits. What You Can Do:
Apply Under General Category : Proceed with your application as General. You won’t face any issues as long as your category declaration matches your supporting documents.
Get the OBC Certificate Later : If possible, try to obtain your OBC certificate before the counseling phase. Many states provide expedited services for caste certificates.
Stick to the Declared Category : If you apply under General now, you must stick to this category throughout the admission process unless allowed otherwise during document verification.
Applying under General is not wrong, but you won’t benefit from OBC category relaxations like a lower cutoff or reserved seats without the certificate.
