Hello there,

Well with your WBJEE rank of 26369 , you may not be able to get top colleges in WestBengal but surely there are other colleges where you might get a chance. Below I have listed some of the colleges under WBJEE where you can get a seat under Other State quota candidate -

  • Heritage Institute of Technology
  • Narula Institute of Technology
  • Academy of Hoogly
  • Bengal Institute of Technology
  • Haldia Institute of Technology
  • Techno India University

My opinion would be that you first attend the counselling process for WBJEE and checkout which colleges you are getting and in which branches. After that if you think these are not good , then you can give a year drop for IIT JEE preparation. Because it cant be said for sure that whether you get a seat in IIT or not so its good to have a backup.

You can go through this link and checkout the counselling process for WBJEE : https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/wbjee-counselling

Here is the link you can go through and checkout the detailed cutoff for colleges under WBJEE : https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/wbjee-cutoff

Hope this helps you . Good Luck !!!

Hello!

It totally depends upon you. If you feel that taking a drop would be worth it, then take it. However, the pressure would be too much and you can't waste your time after that. However, if you have some issues and you know in your heart that you might not improve considerably, then don't take it. Trust me, the college doesnt matter match. Maybe you won't get a great headstart, but you can really do good even after that.

With this rank you would not get any government colleges. You have to take admission in private colleges only like techno india, heritage, iem, uem in Kolkata. If you are confident enough that you can do well next year by taking full preparation then go for a drop. It's completely upto you
