It is possible to change your category from General to General EWS during the Session 2 correction window of JEE Main 2025, even if you applied as General in Session 1. However, this is subject to the following conditions: NTA allows category changes: The National Testing Agency (NTA) must explicitly allow category changes during the Session 2 correction window. You should carefully check the official JEE Main 2025 information bulletin and any notifications released by the NTA regarding this. You must have a valid EWS certificate issued by a competent authority. This certificate should meet the eligibility criteria and format specified by the NTA and you must make the category change within the specified dates of the Session 2 correction window. No changes will be allowed after the deadline.

Hello there,

Yes, you can make changes to your category during the correction window for JEE Main Session 2, including changing your category from General to General EWS, provided you meet the eligibility criteria for EWS and have the required documents (such as an EWS certificate) to support the change.

Here are the steps you should follow:

  1. Check Eligibility : Ensure that you meet the eligibility criteria for the EWS category, which includes having an EWS certificate issued by the competent authority as per the government guidelines.

  2. Document Validation : Make sure you have a valid EWS certificate that is not older than a year (as per the guidelines). The certificate should be in the prescribed format.

  3. Correction Window : When the correction window for JEE Main Session 2 opens, log in to the official JEE portal using your application number and other details.

  4. Modify Category : In the correction window, you can modify your category selection. If you are eligible for EWS, you can change your category from General to General EWS.

  5. Pay Additional Fees (if applicable) : In some cases, there might be additional fees or changes in the fee structure based on the category change. Ensure to pay any required fees before submitting the changes.

  6. Confirmation : After making the correction, carefully check all the updated details before submitting, and take a printout of the final application form for your records.

Make sure to do this during the correction window as it might not be allowed after that period.

Use your credentials to access the correction window once it’s open.

2. Change Category:

You can select General-EWS and upload your valid EWS certificate issued by the competent authority.

3. Submit Changes:

Review your changes carefully and submit them. Ensure everything is correct before finalizing the modification.

Important Points to Note:

EWS Certificate: You must have a valid EWS certificate for the change to be processed.

Correction Window Dates: The correction window is usually available in February 2025, so keep checking the official JEE Main website for exact dates.

Document Verification: If your category change is approved, you will need to provide the original EWS certificate during the counseling process.

By making this change, you can avail of the benefits reserved for General-EWS candidates during the admission process.
