i bsc physics student. can i apply foer gate exam in mechanical engineering or electrical engineering
Hello dear,
The eligibility criteria to appear for the GATE exams have been relaxed by IIT Bombay from the minimum 10+2+4 (ongoing) to a minimum of 10+2+3 (ongoing). This will enable even those in the third year of their undergraduate studies to appear for the examination. Also, as of 2022, any candidate who has a Bachelor degree in any branch of Science / Arts / Commerce (3 year program) or who is currently in the 3rd year or already completed the course are eligible to apply for the GATE exams 2022. So, you are eligible to apply for GATE.

BSc physics student cannot apply for GATE examination qualified for B.tech in any other stream of engineering course of study. So for appearing gate for taking admission in post graduation courses in Engineering and Technology Candidate should of the Btech or BE degrees at least of 4 years. GATE examination is the gateway of admission in postgraduation courses in technology or engineering.
