Based on your past academic records and considering you have no work experience and belong to general category, only a 100 percentile can fetch you a call from IIM A. Even a 100 percentile may not be enough for a IIM B call.
All the best!
You are a SC category student so to get call from IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore and IIM Calcutta which are the top 3 b-schools of our country you need to score atleast 92+ percentile.
Even after getting 92+ percentile there is no surity of getting a call for the second round of interview and WSAT because after CAT exam every college including IIM in which you have applied makes up merit list to call students for next round of interview and WSAT which is based on your aggregate score which comprises of many factors such as CAT marks, 10th, 12th and graduation percentage, work experience, engineer or non engineer and gender whose weightage varies from college to college.
Making it way more difficult to get a call from IIM Bangalore either you need to have a qualitative high work experience or you need to have excellent academic records like 95+ percentage in 10th and 12th, 90+ percentage in graduation.
And even after getting a call you need to perform excellently in second round of WSAT and interview because after second round a final merit list is made based in new aggregate score which includes the marks of WSAT and interview which generally have highest weightage along with CAT marks.
So, in order to get a call and increase the probability of conversion aim to get 95+ percentile.
With 70 percentile as a SC category student also you won't even get a call from any of the new IIM or ultra new IIM.
So work very hard. It's no way easy to get admission in top b-school. Irrespective of categories only top students get enrolled in top b- schools.
All the best!!
Hey Anubhav,
No, This is not true. The cutoff for IIM-A & IIM B is above 90+ percentile. With 70 & 75 percentile its not possible to get into IIMs of India for general category. You need to score atleast 95+ percentile for IIM A & IIM B. The other parameters for IIMs are your academic performance and your work experince which plays a major role in calculation of aggregate score before final merit list.

Hope this helps !!
