I complete my digree in Bsc biotechnology is am eligebl for Msc horticulture
Hello
Not many Agricultural universities allow non agriculture background students to pursue MSc in Agriculture. Assam Agricultural University Jorhat of lately has started incorporating non Agriculture background students in MSc courses specially in Agricultural Biotechnology department. For that you need to appear for an entrance test followed by an interview. Once you get enrolled you have to go through some basic courses in pure Agriculture called Bridge courses alongwith your normal courses in order to be at par with the Agriculture background students since they have spent four years in graduation instead of three as in case of yours. So it does on individual colleges. Try checking into eligibility of each college.
Hi.
Eligibility criteria for M.Sc Horticulture is as follows:
- Any candidate with a bachelor’s degree in Botany, Agriculture, Horticulture or equivalent from a recognized institute is eligible to apply.
- The candidate must possess at least 50% marks in their graduation degree.
- There is no special provision for reserved category candidates.
They have not exclusively mentioned whether of not Biotechnology students are eligible or not but you can always inquire with the institute OR refer to the syllabus for an entrance exam for the institute.
Good Luck
