To employ competent food safety officers, each state's SPSC (State Public Service Commission) administers the SCS (State Civil Service) test. Every year, the SPSCs announce job vacancies for this position.
In order to become a food safety officer, Applicants must have a Bachelor's (B.Tech/B.Sc.) or Master's (M.Tech/M.Sc.) degree in a related discipline such as biochemistry/agricultural science/biotechnology/dairy technology/food technology from an accredited university or institute.
To demonstrate that they have the necessary credentials, candidates may be required to complete an FDA-approved programme and become certified.

To become a Food Safety Officer(FSO), one has to clear the State Civil Services(SCS) exam.
The eligibility for taking the SCS exam is bachelors or masters degree from a recognized university. Candidates having specialization in Home Science, Chemistry or Biotech are eligible to apply for this exam.
Since you've specialization in Chemistry, you're eligible to apply for the post. You just have to clear the SCS exam.
