Aman, ofcourse its smarter of you that you have decided your goal this soon. You are goibg to take admission in undergraduate colleges so a subject which helps you in pursuing your graduation well and even helps in UPSC can be any subject of your choice but it has to interest you too. Like you have qualified your intermediate with Mathematics you can even choose Mathematics for UPSC but the main focus should be on your interest.

The Civil Services Examinations now is quite unpredictable and there is no single key to it. UPSC aspirants have taken tougher subjects and passed through with good marks and secures better ranks. Since you have started early you have continue with the subject for three years of your graduation and then may be a year or so during the preparation. So it should not be a momentary decision. Take time and think about it and then make a move. If you are confused do read or go through the shortlisted subjects. It's not anymore the deal of the subject, it's more about your command over thw subject. I am sure you would clear your confisions soon. Let us know if you need more guidance

Good to see that you wanted to study for UPSC. The subjects which you did for your class 12th does not at all count for the UPSC exams.

IAS exam treats all the IAS aspirants in par irrespective of their age, educational qualification,attemt and their likes. There is no minimum passing percentge required in the graduate degree in order to apply for the IAS exam. All the aspirants,whether simple graduate or a doctor in the subject needs to appear in the common IAS prelims exam comducted by  Union Public Service Commission each year in the month of June.

Candidate must have attained a minimun age of 21 years for this examination. There ia no age relaxationfee relaxation and atempt relaxation for the EWS category candidates. The separate maximum age limit has been set for different categories. 32 years for general category,35 years for OBC and 37 years for SC and ST have been prescribed. There is even more relaxation in the disabled category.

The exam will be divided into three categories:

1.Preims

2.Mains

3.Personality test

For the prelims exam,subjects will include history,geography,political science,art and culture and the current affairs

For the mains exam,you will have all the above subjects including the optional paper.The optionals offered are:

You can choose from among these. If you wish to choose a subject which has a close relevence with the syllabus of UPSC then I would recommend choosing a Bachelor's degree in History,Political science,Sociology,Geography.Apart from that you could also choose law at your under graduation level.These will prove to be the better options.
