I completed my class 11th in the year 2022-23 and enrolled in class 12th in 2023-24 but then I got diagnosed with mdr tb due to which i was absent in all my class 12th boards and practicals in the year 2023-24, my admit card got generated but I was absent in all boards and practicals and in cbse website when i saw my result it was marked absent in every practical and paper, now I'm appearing as a regular candidate in the year 2024-25, will I be eligible for jee advance 2025 and 2026 as in jee advance attempts counts from first appearance in class 12 irrespective of whether paper was conducted and if board and declared the result of that year. Will they consider my 2023-24 absent year as an attempt, as I have not even registered for jee mains that year, or will they consider 2024-25 as my first attempt, will I be eligible for jee advanced 2025 and 2026?

Hello Shanvi,
Based on the current rules and your situation:
-
JEE Attempt Count: The JEE Advanced attempt count is based on the year in which you first appeared for the Class 12 exams. Since you were absent in 2023-24 and didn't appear for any exams, this year will not be counted as an attempt.
-
2024-25 as First Attempt: Since you are appearing in 2024-25 as a regular candidate, this will be considered your first attempt for JEE Advanced eligibility.
-
Eligibility for JEE Advanced 2025 & 2026:
- Your first JEE Advanced attempt will be in 2025 (for the 2024-25 session).
- You are eligible for two attempts (2025 and 2026), as the attempt count is reset with the first valid appearance in the board exams.
Hence, you will be eligible for JEE Advanced 2025 and 2026, with 2024-25 considered as your first attempt year.
Hope it helps !
Hello
1. JEE Advanced eligibility rules state that a candidate can attempt JEE Advanced a maximum of two times in consecutive years . This rule applies after the year of their first valid 12th grade result .
2. Since you were absent for your Class 12 CBSE board exams in 2023-24 due to health issues and no valid result was generated , the year 2023-24 will not count as your first attempt for JEE Advanced .
3. Your valid Class 12 board result will be from the year 2024-25 . so, your first attempt for JEE Advanced would be 2025 and you would also be eligible for a second attempt in 2026 .
Hope this information helps you .
Thank you
Hello,
In your case, it would be counted on first attempt in Class 12 or equivalent exam irrespective of the fact that you had appeared or not, or results were declared or not.
As you had been absent during your board exams for 2023-24 on account of illness and had not appeared for JEE Mains, it will not be considered an attempt this year. For 2024-25 will be the first attempt, since you are appearing in this cycle as a regular candidate.
According to JEE eligibility rules , candidates can appear for JEE Advanced a maximum of two times in consecutive years. As such, your first attempt would be in 2024-25 and you will be eligible for JEE Advanced in both 2025 and 2026 as long as you meet the age and other criteria for each year.
Therefore, 2024-25 would be your first attempt, and you are eligible for JEE Advanced 2025 and 2026.
