I don't have vision in one eye(monocular vision)and I have accurate vision in other (6/6). I want to become cardiothoracic surgeon. I could get admission in MBBS and PG college or not. I have no other problem.could I become surgeon or i will be disqualified in medical fitness test due to one eye.
Sunny, for being eligible for PWD reservation for NEET, your visual impairment should not exceed 40%. According to NTA Guidelines, Low vision and Blindness are listed as the conditions eligible for PWD reservation. It does not mention anything about Monocular vision. You can check that at: https://ntaneet.nic.in/ntaneet/ShowPdf.aspx?
There are 2 things to this. If you are enquiring about reservation, then here is the thing. If the range of your eye sight falls at or below 40%, then you are eligible for PWD reservation. Now there is no vertical reservation. It is a horizontal reservation within your Category. For example, if you belong to OBC Category and you have PWD reservation, then you will be eligible for OBC-PWD quota. If the visual impairment is more than 40% then, you will only be eligible for OBC reservation.
If you are only looking for eligibility, you can appear for NEET and should you secure a seat in Medical College you can take the seat and study to become a Doctor. But it might be a problem for PG because if you take up few specialisations, then Binocular vision becomes mandatory for treatment. For a clear idea about this, you should consult a District Medical College for an evaluation and a certificate for this.
Also we would suggest you to mail NTA at their helpdesk: neet@nta.ac.in
