CAT is Common Admissiom Test conducted online held in two slots i.e., morning and afternoon by IIMs every year for getting admission in Top 20 Management Institutes for MBA or PGDM. You have to at least 90 perctile if you belong to OBC category and above 99 percentile if you belong to General category. The exam apttern comprises of three sections:-
1) Verbal Ability - 34 questions
2) Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning - 32 questions
3) Quantative Ability - 34 questions
Verbal ability section comprises of topics such as reading comprehension, para jumbles, sentence completion, odd one out, para summary, fill in the blanks and questions based on vocabulary.
DILR section consists various topics such as answering questions on the basis of different types of graphs. There are many questions of reasoning such as sitting arrangement,circular arrangement, venn diagrams and many other topics. Question paper for this section is divided into two categories. Almost half of the questions are on data interpretation and half of them on logical reasoning.
Quantitative ability is consists of questions on various basic topics such as profit and loss, simple and compound interest, time and distance, time and work, geometry, trignomentry, alegebra etc.
The duration of the exam is 3 hours with negative marking. Non MCQ questions don't carry negative marks. For getting a better picture of this exam solve previous year question papers. The pattern of question paper is unimaginable and you cannot predict what might come in exam. As in 2018, Quants section was quite difficult. You should at least solve 15-19 questions in each section correctly for getting a decent college. For inceasing your reading speed read at least 1-2 hours daily and for vocabulary solve Word Power Made Easy by Norman Lewis. You can also purchase study materials online of different coaching institutes. Brush up your mind by solving NCERT maths of 8th, 9th, 10th. You can also solve quants book by Arun Sharma.

Here is some information on CAT exam :
Common Admission Test (CAT) is national-level management entrance examination conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM). Apart from 20 IIMs, CAT scores are used for admission to various management institutes across the country. CAT 2018 will be conducted on November 25, 2018. The detailed notification for CAT 2018 will be released in July/August.
Eligibility criteria for CAT 2018:
The candidate must possess a Bachelors Degree with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% for SC, ST and PWD/DA category).
Percentage obtained in bachelors degree would be calculated on the basis of practice followed by the concerned university/institution. In case of grades/CGPA, the conversion would be based on the process defined by the concerned university/ institution.
Syllabus include Questions from VARC, QA and DI & LR.
