Dear student,
Yes you can write jee advance in 2019 if you clear the cutoff marks for jee mains 2019.
There are maximum three attempts for writing jee mains exam and maximum two attempts for writing jee advanced exam. If you applied for the mains in 2017, 2018 and 2019, but wrote the exam only in 2019 then it will be counted as one attempt. As far as appearing for jee advance is concerned, you can appear for jee advance only if you clear the cutoff marks in jee mains. The cutoff for mains depends on your category too as it is different for students of different categories.
Once the cutoff marks for jee mains are released by the NTA, you can check your score and if your score is higher than cutoff, then you can appear for jee advance in 2019.
Good Luck!
As we know the number of attempts for jEE mains is 3 and number of attempts for JEE advance is 2 .
Firstly, you should clear jEE mains then only you are eligible for JEE advance. As you said you appeared for mains in January.
So if you are qualified this year for JEE mains then you are eligible for JEE advance. Then hope for good!
All the best!!!
