For NIOS 12th, if you've failed in one subject and want to improve in another subject where you've already passed, you'll have different requirements. For the subject you've failed, you'll need to reappear for the public exam, and if your previous practical and TMA marks are good, they'll be carried forward. However, for the subject you've already passed and want to improve, you'll only need to reappear for the public exam, and your previous practical and TMA marks will not be considered.

You need to appear only for the public exam in that subject that you have failed. Considering your marks for practicals and TMAs are pretty good, you will benefit from those from the previous attempt.

The rules of improvement are mainly the same whether you passed or failed the subject initially. You will follow all the general procedures for an NIOS improvement exam which include

Applying online: Apply for improvement exam online through the website of the NIOS itself.

Pay the required fees: As per the set schedule by the board pay the fees for the examination.

Appear in the public exam: Have the theory exam for the subject you want to improve.

Hello,

Here’s what you need to know about reappearing for NIOS 12th exams :

  1. Subject Re-exam : You only need to appear for the theory exam of the failed subject. Your previous practical and TMA marks will be carried forward if they meet the passing criteria.

  2. Improvement Exam : For the improvement subject, only the theory exam is required. The practical and TMA marks will also be carried forward if they are satisfactory.

  3. Validity : Ensure your practical and TMA marks are valid for the current session as per NIOS guidelines.

Check with NIOS for specific dates and rules applicable.

Hope it helps !
