If you can afford to drop one year and your parents are okay with it then dropping an year for NITs,IIITs,GFTIs and IITs is totally worth it.
For admission into NITs,IITs and GFTIs, one should have 75% marks in 12th boards (65% for OBC/SC/ST) and if you are seriously interested in engineering and want to see yourself in a good place in future then you should aim for top engineering college and for that i would suggest you to drop an year and prepare for JEE and get admission next year.
But put hardwork and be honest with yourself during the drop year.
Good Luck
However you can get admission in private colleges through jee mains score.
There are some good private colleges who take direct admission without considering (12 the marks) .
I think you go for these private colleges.
These are some colleges :
1:Graphic era dehradun.
2:DIT dehradun.
3:Amity university, noida
4:Sharada university, Greater noida
5:IIMT college of engineering, Greater Noida.

I hope it helps you.
Happy learning! !
If you are really interested to do degree in Computer Science ,it would be good if you join some good colleges.
If you want to go for IITs, you surely need to give improvement exam
But, there are few other good government colleges other than IITs which may provide admission with this percentage, provided you have scored good in Jee.
If not, you must prepare for the same and give improvement exam to get a good college which is very important for your career ahead.
Best Wishes!!
