To get a CSE seat in the southern NITs, which are considered to be the top NITs you need to have a 2-3 digit rank for the old ones and 4 digit rank for the newer ones, according to the last year cutoff. So you can see the possibility according to your rank. Though, if you want to get into a NIT only then you can change your branch preference. But if CSE is what you want, look for other colleges then.
