178 marks is not going to take you to the NITs or SPAs but you will get a seat in some other colleges. If you would have scored 200+, then it would have been a lot better. Anyways, it depends a lot on your category too. If you are of general category, then there are less chances but it you belong to SC or ST, then there are pretty good chances of securing a seat.
