Hello aspirant

The admission authority of various IITs will announce cutoff of IITs for B.Tech Civil Engineering separately. IITs cutoff for B.Tech Civil Engineering is the minimum marks which must be secured by the candidate in order to have a higher chance of getting admission. The probability of getting admission in desired programme increases with higher marks in qualifying examination. Candidates are advised to secure more than or equivalent to cutoff of IITs for B.Tech Civil Engineering in Jee Advanced entrance examination. Candidates who are unable to secure required cutoff marks will not be considered for admission process. The admission authority of IITs will prepare the B.Tech Civil Engineering cutoff for IITs separately for each course and category along with opening and closing ranks.

Hope you understand,

Thank you.

Hello,

As you have mentioned that your jee advance rank is 18,000 which indeed is very high. But you haven't mentioned your category. Nevertheless, if you belong to the general category then a straight forward : NO...!!!!

The closing rank for the general category students is around 7000. But if you belong to some category like SC or ST or even OBC then for 20,000 you can get the lower branches in old IIT as separate rank list is considered for each category .

But still i would say if you belong to reserved category you just have decent chances to get an IIT.

For furthermore information please go through the link given below to predict the colleges you may get with your desired rank :

I hope this would help you. For further queries please feel free to write me down in the comment box.

Dear Aspirant,

Congratulations for cracking the JEE main examination.

You mentioned that your JEE advanced rank is 18000. Now you are looking for a Bachelor of Technology in Civil engineering seat in Indian institute of Technologies.

But sorry to say that your chance of getting admission in civil branch of IITs is negligible (if you are a general category student). If you have any category advantage then you have a very less chance.

I would suggest you to opt for other subjects like biotechnology, Mechanical engineering etc.

Go to the below mentioned link for more details:

Best of luck.

Hello Priya jain,

As you secured 18000 rank in the jee advanced it is very good. So according to the analysis of data

It is little harder you to get seat in the IIT because the competition among the IIT is very high

If you are from north side IIT home state then you have some little chances of getting seat

All the best

Depends on your category and your preferences. If you don't have any preference then like 10k or 11k rank is the last at which you can get something for general category.

All branches of all IITs end up at approx 15000 ranks. And your rank depends on the branch you want to get in .

hi priya,

yes i think you should go and get iit college as once youre in iit , it wont matter you came from round 1 or round 7. plus, iit has a huge name and getting placements from iit is obviously the best thing. just go to iit and study well and your life is set!

i would suggest go for it!

hope it helped!

Hi Priya,

If you are a general student then sorry to tell you that no you won't get but if you are having a or at then you may definitely get into some of the top 7 iits also that's how much caste certificate works in India

So it may or may not depends on your category

Hope this helps you out but keep on trying and if you are lucky you can get and check out previous year cutoff from official josaa website

Have a great day ahead

And have a bright future
