First and foremost , you are not guaranteed a seat in engineering based on your 10th and 12th marks.

Your need to appear for regional engineering competitive exams like WBJEE ,TJEE and KCET among others.

You need to clear the cut off and secure a good rank to get a good course in a good college.

The condition in college are quite great. Ragging and violence are strictly dealt with.

The teaching faculties differ from college but in general they are helpful and co-operative.

Your tentative rank will be 12,500 to 14,500. It'll be tough for you to get any top government college, but you can go for top private colleges like,

• SCMS School of Engineering and Technology, Ernakulum - Civil, ECE, CSE, EEE, ME
• Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology, Ernakulam - EEE, ECE

As per the intake and rank of students, teachers in the most government colleges are going o support you completely, in private colleges too. In most of the cases, teachers don't deny to help students at all especially in engineering colleges. Passing percentage and process of clearing back papers are definitely better in private colleges over govt one. Facility and infrastructure depends upon colleges although most of the time private colleges have better facilities and infrastructure.

So government college has its own perks while carrying the drawbacks too while some teachers are negligent others quite serious about studying. While there are private college like bits pilani, vit vellore which are not governmental colleges but provides the best of the services.
