Mention the state you stay in because that's something more important. If you stay in states like Delhi, Rajasthan or Maharashtra, then you cannot get any government college for sure. But there might be some chances of maybe BDS if you stay in states like Gujarat.
But yes, if you want to be in the best of colleges maybe whose cutoffs are 550 and above, then you may go for a drop that's not a bad option. But you have to make sure that you study very well and don't repeat the mistakes that you may have done this year.

Being a general category candidate ,you have negligible chances of getting admission in any government college.
However ,if you have domicile of any state then it might help you in getting a government dental college in that state through 85% state quota.
You can check the cutoffs of different colleges in various states (15% all india quota or85% state quota)
