I got 43% in 12th std but scored 60% in 10th and degree. For which college I am eligible for?
HI,
CAT exam eligibility criteria are that the candidate must complete his/her graduation with a 3-year course of bachelor degree and secure 50% (45% for SC/ST/PWD) or more marks.
Students who are in the final year of their graduation can also apply. There is no upper age limit for appearing in the exam. So, the minimum eligibility for CAT exam does not require a high score in 12th standard.
The weightage of 10th, 12th marks in CAT cannot be ignored. Some of the IIMs give below 10% weightage to 12th standard percentage of marks, while some IIMs give as high as 50% weightage to a candidate’s 12th standard score.
So, board exam result of class 10th and 12th act as an integral part in selection process of the management schools, but not for appearing in the CAT exam. So, one should keep in mind that he/she can write CAT exam without giving much thought to his/her 12th standard score, but when it comes to make it to the merit list, those scores have a great significance.
