Parimala, you have a good percentage of marks, better than many others. But for your information, your percentage in boards doesn't matter when you want to get into an engineering college, your J.E.E. rank (national or state-level entrance, which ever you appear for) is what matters.

With your choice of words, it feels that you have made up your mind to study engineering but you're confused about which stream to get into.

C.S.E. is a flourishing field and present broad opportunities, both career-wise as well as for higher-studies.

If you are a geek who likes to spend hours on your desktop developing apps or websites or coding algorithms to provide solutions to complex problems, C.S.E. is the stream for you. However, you also need to make sure you have mathematics and a little of electronics in your arena of interest.

Also, if you have a biology background , do not be scared. If you're dedicated and passionate enough about C.S.E., there's no one who can stand in your way to success. Focus on yourself and do not be demotivated by your fellow would-be classmates if they be better at coding than you. You'll learn everything on the way once you start.

Best of luck!

Parimala Kamble Yes, you surely can secure a seat in a much-better-than-average college with that rank. I have edited my main comment to your question and attached a link there, where you can find a list of colleges around you where you can get admitted to :)
Power to you!

Parimala Kamble Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) and Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degrees are more-or-less the same. It's just that the syllabus for B.E. is more knowledge-based, whereas, that for B.Tech is more skill-based. With B.E. you get to explore and dive deep into theoretical concepts. While, B.Tech is more of hands-at-work or you may say, field-work-based. In India, the two are almost used interchangeably- although the B.E. degree is offered mainly by autonomous/deemed universities while B.Tech by all other government/private/public sector colleges.

The difference between CS or CSE/ CST (as some institutions call it) is- CS is more of dealing with data and algorithms, theories of computation, getting into the details of the hardware electronics components and so on; CSE on the other hand is associated more with development- robotics, cybernetics, embedded systems, graphics and visualization, cyber security and so on. To sum up, CS is more on the creating-new-things side while CSE is more on the side of applying existing things for designing innovative technologies. In India though, CS and CSE are essentially the same. However, there is a discipline of Computer Science in Hons. Degree which deals totally about the theoretical side of things. Don't confuse CS or CSE/CST of B.E./ B.Tech with the CS of Hons. Degree.

Hope that helped :)
