Even you can get NIT's and IIT's too as you have to cross 75 % overall not individually if your marks in one subject is low then you can overcome that by other subjects,or if you unable to cross 75 % in board like some state board have hard patterns and paper then also if you be in top 20 percent students of your board then also you are eligible.
Top 20 percentile of any board is calculated by marks scored in five subjects which are
Maths
Chemistry
Physics
Language subject
Any subject other than physics, chemistry, Maths, language paper
if you have two language paper then higher marks scored subject will be taken for calculating top 20 percentile.
Yes, you can get admission in any engineering college except NITs,IIIT and GFTIs through JEE mains regardless of your marks in boards.
But for admission in NITs,IIIT and GFTIs , you must need to have 75% in 12th boards examination or be in top 20 percentile. For SC/ ST, the eligibility is to obtain a minimum of 65% marks in class 12 or equivalent.
