With 72000 rank it is quite difficult to get an nit. Even if you get one, it is impossible to get core branches like cse or it, which you are demanding. However, homestate quota can help if you belong to Agartala, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Pudduchery or Harmipur, as they provide huge quota and due to lack of strong competetion in these places, closing ranks reach upto Lakhs. If you aren't one of the homestate resident of these, you ca try for other good private colleges like Lovely Professional University, jalandhar ; Purnima University ; Manipal Institute of Technology, PEC, chandigarh, etc. You can also try college predictor by careers 360.
It is quite difficult to get NITs and IIITs with this rank. Your task is quite high to procure seat in any of the central government colleges and but you can get good state government engineering colleges.
