Dear Akash

Your marks are fairly average and to get a call from IIM abc you need percentile over 99.5 and that too wont gurantee a call.

But since you are from Bcom and st xavier you have a good chance in new IIMs and other bschools such as MDI xlri etc.
So prepare well and target a percentile over 98 to get most of the best calls.

Hey Akash!

As you come from St. Xavier’s college, you will be having better head compared to other two tier or three tier undergrad colleges. Plus, your education trajectory has improved, considering the fact that in Xaviers scoring 70% is equal to 85-90 percent in class twelfth. So, work hard and ace it. As you good chances of getting into new IIMs and low chances in the new IIMs, considering your tenth grade percentage. Best wishes!

Hi Akash,

Academic do play a role in shortlistig criteria of IIMs. However, there are several other factors that IIMs look at hich include your Extra cirriculars, Co Cirricular, work experience, PORs, Acheivements etc. Since your target is ABC, you should first focus on getting an excellent CAT percentile. The target should be 99.9%ile and above.

Once you get this you would have a chance for shortlist. In Ahmedabad, the focus is more on diversity. Hence, with a good CAT score and decent overall profile you should get a shortlist. At IIMB, the focus in on all-round development. So having good or above decent skills in all sets i.e co-cirriculars, extra cirriculars etc and if your profile shows you are outspoken, you can get a shortlist with these acads.

At IIMC, acads is of high focus. However, over the years they have reduced importance to acads to increase diversity. At a 99.5 percentile and above you should be able to get a shortlist given your acad scores.

After this the better you perform at GD-PI, the greater are your chances to get in. Give your best shot and depitc that you can do it too even though your past acad scores were not so great. Show them that you have the potential to be a great manager and you are a quick learner with great focus, zeal and dedication. Depict your discipline.

All the best

Hi Aspirant,

The above marks do play a role in admission to IIMs.

However, since you are aiming for abc, make sure to score the maximum in your CAT.

Although IIM C has considerably decreased it's cutoff for the interview (which is an attempt to increase the diversity in its classrooms),still focus on scoring high.

Also, make sure to get your extra co-curricular score high,as it always provides an edge.

Prepare yourself for the interview as the process is quite tough.

All the best.

Hope this helps.
