I got 76k rank in VITEEE, can anyone tell me what happens in counselling and how should I place the preferences. I want CS in any campus.

As you have mentioned that you have got 76k rank in viteee 2021 and you also don't have any problems with the campuses so you should put in all the cse branch for different campus at first.

For example

1- VIT vellore (cse branches)

2-Vit chennai (cse branches)

3- Vit bhopal ( cse branches)

4-Vit ap (cse branches)

You won't require to go for bhopal and ap because at a worst case you would get cse in vit chennai.

In India, there are a total of four VIT campuses i.e VIT, Vellore, VIT Chennai, and newly established VIT Bhopal and VIT AP. For all these four VITs, the counseling is done through a single process. There is a total of four counseling rounds or category rounds. Depending upon the ranks, candidates are called for counseling.

Generally, the candidates who have ranks below 20,000 are called in the 1st category, for the second category, the candidates with ranks in between 20,000 and 45,000 are called and for third and fourth category rounds, the candidates with ranks in between 45,000 to 1,00,000 are called respectively.

As you secured 76,000th rank in VITEEE which is not sufficient to take admission in VIT Vellore and Chennai campuses for the CSE branch. With this rank, you can try to take admission in VIT Bhopal and VIT AP. But there are fewer chances of getting admission to the CSE branch in VIT Bhopal with this rank but you can try till the last counseling round.

As VIT AP is the newest VIT of all the four VITs, here the cut-offs are significantly low than the other VITs. You can easily get admission to the CSE branch at VIT AP with 76,000th rank in VITEEE. Still, while filling choices, you must give higher preference to VIT Vellore as it is the prominent private engineering institute in India. You may even get admission there if seats remain vacant. You can fill the choices as per the following preferences:

1. B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering - VIT Vellore

2. B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering- VIT Chennai

3. B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering- VIT Bhopal

4. B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering- VIT AP
