Hi

I am asuming you are talking about JEE main exam, see there is nothing so called as qualified in JEE main. According to your percentile you will get a AIR rank. And then based on rank you will be alloted seat in NIT or any other college accepting JEE MAIN score.

But to answer JEE ADVANCED, yes you have to qualify JEE MAIN. And the qualifying score is 84 percentile.
