Hello Poulomi!
You have few options of Government engineering colleges. The chances are bit low but do try in them.
In the beginning of counselling process, you can apply in few government colleges from North-East.
They are-
CENTRAL INSTITUE of TECHNOLOGY, KOKRAJHAR, ASSAM
NORTH-EAST HILL UNIVERSITY, SHILLONG(MEGHALAYA)
Both of these colleges are not too good but they are government colleges and the fees is very low. Also the cutoff stays quite low there.
Next, towards the end of counselling process there are vacant seats left in some colleges and hence spot counselling is conducted(famous as
CSAB
).
If CSAB is conducted this year too, then do go for it as you may get GGU BILASPUR at the end.
Now in GGU BILASPUR, GKV HARIDWAR and such GFTIs there are vacant seats left even after CSAB. So, universities conduct local counselling in which all india students are allowed. If that happens then you may get a seat.
Now, is it worth joining such government colleges?
Joining such government colleges will be lighter on your pocket as the fees is very low. But don't expect placements like NIT there. In my opinion, according to your rank, GGU BILASPUR is good as GATE results have been good from there and you will get a good number of successful and well-placed alumnis as compared to GKV HARIDWAR and other GFTIs.
All the best!
