Hi aspirant!
83 percentile is equivalent to approx 1.5 lakh rank in general category. There are some NITs you can go for under 1.5 lakh rank as per 2019 cut-offs. These are-
1. NIT Agartala
2. NIT Uttarakhand
3. NIT Mizoram
3. NIT Manipur

However, you can even go for the second attempt to be held in September for better college options. Wish you a good luck.

Hello Aspirant,

According to your percentile you have mentioned in the question your approximate rank would be near about 1.47 Lakhs and on the basis of this rank you cannot get top NITs even if you belongs to SC reservation category but yes you can try for lower NITs like NIT Sikkim, NIT Pudduchery, NIT Agartala and so on.

I would recommend you to either prepare yourself for second attempt of JEE-Main which is scheduled from September 1st-6th and try to hit the target of at least 95 percentile for good NITs or you should go for JEE-Advance which is scheduled for September 27th because on the basis of previous year's qualifying cut-off you can easily qualify for JEE-Advance for your category, if you get good rank (under 10,000) then you will be able to sit in premiere engineering institutions of India which are IITs.

You can also use JEE-Main College Predictor to predict your college according to the percentile and category, link for the same is given below :-

I hope this information helps you.

Good Luck!!

The formula to calculate JEE Main Rank from Percentile Score is: ((100 – P)/100)*N + 1

P = Your Percentile score

N = Total No. of candidates appeared (921261)

So, your AIR is turning out to be around 156615 and SC rank will be around 6000 - 7000.

Yes, you can get an NIT with HOME STATE QUOTA.

Your All India Rank is determined by the formula 100-your percentile*869010/100. Going by that your All India Rank is 147731. You haven't mentioned the State that you hold the domicile of. This is important because Home State Candidates have different cut offs from Out of the State Candidates. Nevertheless, with a percentile of 83, it might be tad difficult for a seat in any NIT. Eitherways please check the cut offs of previous year of various NITs at our page: https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/nits-cutoff-for-top-btech-branches . You NITs you might have to appear for September session. To check the list of Colleges that you have as hot at please use our College predictor
