The first thing that should be in your mind while opting for a college is what stream you want. Because no matter how good the college reputation is but in the end the only thing that'll be going to be considered is the stream you choose.
If you are interested to pursue masters after the graduation irrespective of the branch you get then you can get seat in NITs during JoSAA counseling in non-core branches. But keep this in mind that you have to be focussed and disciplined if you want to pursue masters from good colleges because then only you can reap maximum benefits of your studies.

If you want to go for good branch then are many private colleges which take you in with JEE mains score and some of them take their own entrance exam. The core branches in these colleges can offer you better opportunities in your career than the non-core branches in NITs and IITs.

You should try for Jee mains April attempt and you should score better in that.If you do more hard work and keep patience then you will be get a good nit college .As if you want to get admiited in a reputed and top nit then your rank should be within 15000 .
So try hard and best of luck for April session.
